No, there’s nothing open

Flora is very small and doesn’t have salaries to offer. Saying so plainly seems better than a careers page listing roles that don’t exist.

What the work is

An API, two clients, a marketing site, and a hard technical problem in the middle: turning arbitrary text into questions worth answering. Most of what’s difficult here is quality rather than scale - a card that asks the wrong thing is worse than no card, and knowing which is which needs evaluation rather than opinion.

Everything is written down. The reasoning behind a decision lives next to the code that implements it, and where the evidence for a claim is thin we say so in public rather than rounding it up.

What we’d hire for first

Someone who can measure whether generated cards are any good, and make them better. That’s a mix of evaluation, prompting and taste, and it’s the thing that decides whether Flora works.

After that, an iOS engineer, because the daily habit lives on a phone and the phone is where the product is thinnest.

If you’d rather not wait

Two things are genuinely useful right now, and neither needs a job.

Use it, and tell us where it broke. A deck that came out badly, with the page you made it from, is worth more to us than a bug report.

Write about spaced repetition, or point us at research we’ve missed. What we’ve read so far is public, and it’s incomplete.
